Silvershower – Ice Fractions 1 Remixes

The third release on Pooledmusic’s techno-focused sister imprint Montage welcomes back Silvershower, revisiting the debut release of Ian Pooley’s techno alias on its 20th anniversary. The original Ice Fractions 1 EP arrived on Plus 8 Records when Richie Hawtin & John Acquaviva’s legendary label was at the height of its powers, and showcased a tougher edge to Pooley’s productions.

Two decades later Pooley is still maintaining his high standards, revisiting and updating past work in the form of reissues & remixes and issuing fresh original material such as his recent Turakina EP on Pooledmusic and the return of Silvershower last year. which marked Montage’s launch This new edition of the first Ice Fractions 12” supplies the two original lead tracks and an updated 2016 remix of each by Pooley himself, satisfying both those aiming for the vintage 1996 techno sound, and those looking for a punchy update for modern techno cathedrals.

Ian Pooley – Meridian 2016 [Pooledmusic 39 + 40]

Ian Pooley’s beloved 1998 album Meridian receives its first digital release this summer with a special 2016 edition. The re-release will mark the first time classic Pooley tracks such as What’s Your Number, Followed, Cold Wait, Flatlet, Hit N’ Run and Long Johns will be available on digital formats. They will form part of an 19-track package that include brand new remixes from Bicep and Oskar offermann, as well as contemporary mixes from Kevin Saunderson, Jazzanova and Bob Sinclar previously unreleased outside of Japan.

Of the new mixes, Belfast house stars Bicep apply their remix magic to Cold Wait, streamlining the Pooley classic into a chunky UK house thumper which has already proven a winner in their sets, while WHITE label boss Oskar Offermann delivers a subtle, grooving UK Garage-inspired take on Hit N’ Run. What’s Your Number receives its own rework by Pooledmusic family member Mathias ’SHOW-B’ Schober, whose remix manifests itself as a starry-eyed version that elevates the original’s melancholic side.

The package is completed by a selection of remixes dated from 2000 and previously only available on bonus CD with the Japanese edition of Pooley’s subsequent LP, Since Then: a version of Cold Wait by Kevin Saunderson (under his E-Dancer guise) and three alternate takes on What’s Your Number by Germany’s soulful broken beat troupe Jazzanova, French house superstar Bob Sinclar and Chris Duckenfield & Richard Brown’s Swag project.

Ian Pooley – Turakina EP [Pooledmusic 038]

Ian Pooley returns to Pooledmusic with his first solo EP of original material on the label since his 2013 album ‘What I Do’. The intervening period has seen Pooley release another hugely popular EP for Innervisions and launch Pooledmusic’s techno-focused sister label Montage with a pair of new releases under his tougher Silvershower alias, while labels including Figure, Rejected and Scenario have been mining his rich back catalogue to re-release some of his best loved classic productions.

The Turakina EP follows Pooledmusic’s previous two EPs from the label’s extended family, SHOW-B and Indira Paganotto, in 2014. Whereas 2015’s focus was on the launch of Montage, 2016 welcomes Pooley back to his main imprint with another three-track 12” that mines the expressive, textured house music that won Pooley a new generation of fans on his Innervisions releases.

The A-side, Turakina, is a classic Pooley groove, stripped down to its elements then layered with melodic detail that builds over the course of the track, subtly bringing a sense of compelling urgency. The B-side finds two versions of the deeper, more emotional Mudou. The original version is in the same ‘miniature epic’ mold of 2012 hit Compurhythm, conveying the same sense of dancefloor drama, while the Dub take a lighter touch to tease out even more of its melancholic nature. The Turakina EP is dedicated to the loving memory of Pooley’s beloved dog Basil, who recently passed away at 12 years of age.

B1 Mudou
B2 Mudou (Dub)

Pooledmusic is now on Bandcamp!: pooledmusic.bandcamp.com

Ian Pooley will be selecting his favourite 12“s from the back catalogue to be made available as “pay what you want” releases. Many of these will be available digitally for the very first time. We're getting started with PLD-005: Ian Pooley – Searchin'.

Keep an eye out for further Pooledmusic digital reissues coming soon!

MONTAGE 002: Hans Berg – Field EP w/ Silvershower remix

Ian Pooley’s his new techno label Montage follows up the inaugural release from his Silvershower alias by handing a label debut to Hans Berg, the Swedish producer with previous releases for Kant and known for collaborations with Johanna Knutsson.

For his first Montage outing Berg delivers two original tracks showing both sides of his production talent. A-side ‘Field’ employs an elastic bassline and teases out delicate melodies, the combination of which recalls Four Tet and Joy Orbison at their most anthemic, while ‘Polar’ sees the Swede head in a more stargazing direction, with glittering synths cloaking a hefty rhythmic backbone. Pooley’s Silvershower alias rounds out the 12” with a darker take on the A cut, pinning the original’s bassline to its heavy kick, ride and claps for a powerful techno roller.

This Wednesday, a new Pooledmusic release.
“ Two German underground house legends collide on the latest offering from Pooled Music. Ian Pooley teams up with Matthias Vogt (one half of Motorcitysoul and a solo artist in his own right) for a masterclass in deep house grooves.
?Aviator? combines melodic and lush synth stabs with a solid percussive backbeat for a heavyweight deep experience. Pooley adds a solo remix here, stripping it back to the raw with a tech-funk workout.
?MVIP Theme? sees the pair plunder into a neat little disco flecked track, with a big throwback to the smooth 80s grooves. Teasing pianos and a thick, funky bassline, disco claps and an almost cosmic-like bed of production, ?MVIP Theme? is an early-doors and after hours gem. Voght goes solo this time on his Motorcitysoul remix, with some smart percussion and old skool samples that complement the original mix a treat.”
Supported by:Lovebirds/Kneedeep,Jimpster,Dave Seaman,Shur-i-kan,Magik Johnson,Tiger Stripes,Roy Davis Jr??.

26.11.09 New Mix is online !

“Pooledmusic returns with another solid release.Proceedings kick off with the lo slung funk of “The Dark White (Juno Mix)” , sounding
like the love child of Adonis and Moodyman this seemingly simple groove will slowly
bury its way into your head. Utilising analogue sounds in a completely modern way
and combining them with a super trippy vocal, this is bang up to date house music
that demands your attention.
Flip over to B1 and we have the ?MPC Mix? of The Dark white. Mr Pooley gets to
grips with a piece of kit that has created many a house music anthem and proves
exactly why he is considered a pioneer in our scene. The trippy vocal returns but this
time accompanied by looped up piano, subtle strings and devastating effects.
?Holes In My Shoes? is flavoured with many old school house references; an
awesome bassline straight from the 80s Trax school of house, haunting vocal
snippets and crazed voices, trusty 707 drums, and a certain warmth that makes
tracks like these work time and time again. Subtle 303 tweaks and melancholic
chords round off a very strong track from Pooley.”

Already supported by:Jimpster,Ben Watt,Andy Cato,Ramon Tapia,Tiger Stripes,Satoshi Tomiie,Karotte and many,many more.
